The starting point for the exhibition is the painting „Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer“ (around 1818), one of the iconic works of the painter Caspar David Friedrich (1774 – 1840). On the occasion of his 250th birthday, he is being honored with numerous retrospectives and projects in Hamburg, Dresden, Berlin and other cities in Germany.
He was appointed associate professor at the Dresden Academy on January 17, 1824 – a reason to dedicate an exhibition project to the painter and to explore the relevance of his work for contemporary art.
